Wildcard Deck Installation Instructions

If you are using P-clamps

  1. Place the four P-clamps on your aerobars in roughly the desired locations. They can be either “top mount” or “bottom mount,” but if you are installing any quarter-turn accessories, make sure your bars won’t interfere with them if you install them bottom mount. The attachment points should be inboard of the bars, except that for extremely close-set bars, you may need to orient the mounts so that the attachment points are outboard.
  2. Position the deck so that the P-clamps’ attachment points are between it and the bars. You may want to use speed clamps or an assistant at this point. The longer projection on the central rail should be toward the front.
  3. Apply a dab of thread locker to an M5 bolt and drive it through the deck and P-clamp attachment points. Loosely thread on an M5 nut.
  4. Adjust the positioning of the P-clamps and repeat Step 3 for the remaining P-clamps.
  5. Center the deck and fully tighten the bolts.

If you are using quick blocks

  1. Fit an M5 nut into the hexagonal recess on the inside of the quick block, then dab a small amount of thread-locker on an M5 bolt and thread the bolt through the support arms on the Wildcard Deck into the nut in the quick blocks. Repeat with the remaining 3 mounting points.

Orient the quick blocks so that the attachment points are inboard and the open semicylinders face outboard, except that for extremely close-set bars, you may need to orient the mounts so that the attachment points are outboard. Leave the bolts loose enough that you can adjust the blocks’ positions. You can either install the deck on your aerobars or add accessory mounts to it at this point.

  2. Clean your aerobars with rubbing alcohol, and apply the included helicopter tape to the bars where the quick blocks will make contact. This gives the quick blocks better traction against the bars.

  3. Set the deck on your aerobars and adjust the positions of the quick blocks so that they snugly wrap around the bars and the deck is centered between them. The longer projection on the central rail should be toward the front.

  4. Tighten the M5 bolts. Do not torque beyond about 5 N⋅m. Rely on the thread locker for retention instead.

Install accessories

  • You can place accessories in whatever way makes sense to you.
  • It is better not to have heavy cantilevered loads. Heavier accessories should be placed between the support arms or at the intersections with support arms as much as possible.
  • Accessories are generally installed with M3 bolts. Do not torque M3 bolts beyond about 1 N⋅m. Rely on the thread locker for retention instead.
  • You will need to experiment, and it will depend on your exact setup, but you may be able to pack your gadgets more tightly using a two-level approach where you alternate flat mounts and tilt mounts so that they can overlap each other with vertical separation. Conversely, using tilt mounts for everything may work better in some setups. The sockets on the tilting Garmin and Wahoo adapters are identical to the flat-mount sockets and fit the same hole pattern, so it is easy to switch between configurations.
  • There are numerous brackets, extension arms, and other accessories for GoPro bases that may let you use the Wildcard Deck in other ways.
